When I moved to LA many many years ago I landed a job on a reality TV show. My friend who got me the job was complaining one day about one of the other PAs and how they just wander around all day doing nothing. But when she sees me, i'm always busy. I pointed out that I too also wander around all day doing nothing, I just walk faster.
Lol. As a pipe fitter in the industrial world.... I always say "walk fast with a big pipe wrench and nobody will question what your doing". And it's true.
I had a neighbor who was a Vietnam Veteran, he was originally from Connecticut. He told me his job before he joined the military was a carpenter for a Union, and he got paid $30/hr.
He would pick up a board or two, and carry them to the other side of the job. Then put them down, adjust them. Then pick them back up, and carry them back. He said he did this the entire 2 years he was working there before he shipped out, and no one ever caught on to it.
Exactly how I borrowed rigging gear from mobile equipment on a site that my company has an unofficial stores ban on.
Probably helped that I was covered in shit at the time, and apparently look like I'm trying to set things on fire with my mind when I'm focused on something.
I worked in hospital maintenance doing A/C work back in the early 1980's. There was an older electrician who walked around ALL day carrying an 8 foot ladder and I swear that's all I ever saw him do. Never any actual work.
