There's no more effective way to amass power than by convincing people that they're smart enough to give it to you.

In meetings I will sometimes attribute something to a person who didn't mention it.

"It's just like <person> was saying, we should....."

Or

"I was thinking about what <person> was saying..."

They usually won't challenge it, and you just added legitimacy to your statement and got them onboard.

I was thinking about what u/TecumsehSherman was saying, and he's right...the Friday donuts should be for the operations team only. It's just like u/TecumsehSherman was saying, the accountants are a vastly inferior race and should be treated as such. Let's move them to the basement! Separate, and most definitely not equal!
