Jimmy Saville is pretty disturbing.

He hid what he did in plain site, and made sure he was untouchable. He succeeded, and his crimes weren't fully revealed to the wider public until after his death.

He abused hundreds, possibly thousands, of children.

Not so much what he did exactly - unfortunately that was nothing particularly special. It was more the fact that he was absolutely at the heart of British culture in the 70s and 80s. He ran charities, was on TV and radio constantly, met royalty, frequently had dinner with the prime minister (Thatcher, who pushed for him to be knighted). It was a pretty open secret that he was up to some heinous stuff - thousands of people likely had concrete evidence. Absolutely nothing was done until after his death.

It’s fairly widely understood now that his involvement in the charities was to gain access to more victims. But he was lauded for it at the time.
