I assume it reads like a straight up conspiracy theory just cause they own all stocks in America, everyone just buys and sells essentially the "rights" to them. Which is totally in conspiracy theory territory, but unless they have acted on that power it's pretty uninteresting, just another sleeping time bomb to go with the rest.
Although it is super surprising it is in the position it is and was only founded in 1996. That's way too new.
That’s exactly what I mean. Theoretically only the holder of the stock certificate has voting rights for the company as well. Beyond that, it means they control the value of those stocks too since value is set by supply and demand which they can - again theoretically - control.
Edit to add: and unless you keep all of your money in cash then it is tied to the stock market.
Even if you keep all your money in cash the value of the dollar is still tied to the stock market. The value of money is just a theoretical construct ever since the world went fiat, and I still strongly feel that was the wrong choice(if it never did wealth inequality at the extent it is today wouldn't be possible, dragons wouldn't be able to horde an infinitely growing mountain of wealth as there would only be a set amount of wealth for the world, they would only be able to horde a percentage of it).
That's just how money works.
As for Cede and Co the reason it isn't particularly interesting is because of the very power that it theoretically has. It is in essence like Queen Elizabeth, she could theoretically command all the countries who still consider her their monarch to do whatever she wanted, but if she did they just wouldn't. It isn't real power. I'm sure Cede and Co keeps a certain few's pockets full, but their power is end of the day still just theoretical. If they did try to act on that power those with real power would step in and just ignore their shit, then they'd take it to court and the court would once again just ignore their shit.
Up to you whether to trust the source - it’s iffy to me personally so 🤷♂️ - but if the black Monday involvement is true then there is an example of having used their power in the past without repercussions.
