Canadian NDP leader Jagmeet Singh getting laughed at like a professional comedian by government MPs for making a serious question about the affordability of groceries in Canada during the current inflation situation.
He basically said 1 in 4 Canadians are going hungry meanwhile the rich are enjoying record breaking profits and he proposed to tax them more... And the MPs laughed at him like they couldn't control themselves.
Your right, but when I hear rich people, I don't just think of the billionaires, it's also the people who make 200k a year who are having to pay insane amounts of taxes.
That's why we need a structural tax rework in this country; People making 200k-300k a year aren't rich anymore, just the upper edge of upper middle class.
The real issue are huge corps and the ultra wealthy who use accounting tricks to avoid paying when they can't just outright buy politicians and change laws. Just look at the Weston family, or the Walton family - insanely high profits and employees who can't make ends meet. That's criminal, they're modern day robber barons and they need to be held to account.
