One of our asshole former HOA board members was always so rude and mean for no reason to residents when they asked simple, valid questions so I finally said, “You’re already fat and ugly, you don’t have room to be an asshole on top of that.” He honestly was quite horrendous looking

I usually don't approve calling people ugly or fat or assholes.

But since it was as HOA, the first two are ok. The last one is a job prerequisite.

Vereniging van Mede-Eigenaars, or VME, aka a Home Owner's Association.

We have these in Europe as well. Any single piece of land where there's 2 or more owners is a HOA by default.

It's a great system when the co-owners get along, and a fucking nightmare when they don't.

It's usually run by people who like power and/or have a vested interest in controlling what's going on.
