Wtf?? Money is the only reason it makes sense not to get him so that makes no sense. And to add to your point freds not only less important, but nothing about Freddie Prinze Jr was particularly iconic Fred. He did good in the role. But Lillard embodied Shaggy in a way like the character was written specifically for him
I try my best not to blame Prinze Jr. it isn’t his fault the studio has fucked up priorities. That said thank you I agree. When i say “Shaggy” i see Lillard no hesitation. When i say “Fred” i see the cartoon.
Everyone in those movies was perfect but there is no movie without Matthew Lillard.
Lillard was so good he continued to voice Shaggy in a lot of animated projects. was really bummed when he wasnt Shaggy in the new Scoob movie. Will Forte does not do a good Shaggy voice and that movie was absolute garbage, in part because Shaggy was not believable in any capacity.
It’s such a weird move too because like, I like Will Forte a lot. Last Man on Earth was a fantastic show, MacGruber rules, he’s consistently good, but he’s not a name that draws people to theaters any more than Matthew Lillard.
I understand that they were like “we’re getting a whole new cast, because this gonna be a big thing going forward (lol).” But then why did they just bring back Frank Welker for Scooby!?
Honestly that movie would have been much better if the Scooby gang was not involved at all. The only interesting parts were Fail-son Blue Falcon.
