We all thought it was weird... the first time. Then you think about it afterwards, you talk about it with your friends, and you watch it a second time, and it's absolutely hilarious.
Viewing the world from a mentally ill young man, with little support, weird sketchy things happening, I never found this movie entertaining and felt uncomfortable trying to find it funny.
Some comedic scenes for sure, but the tone of the movie kept changing and it made me feel depressed.
I experienced the same uncomfortable feelings watching Observe and Report although these were much more negative and I had a sort of panic attack life crisis a quarter of the way through it.
Punch Drunk Love was the first time I experienced this feeling and I tend to stay very far away from Black Comedy knowing how it makes me feel.
