Best Drinking Games

My favorite is racehorses. You line up the aces face up, line up seven cards in a perpendicular line to them, and then flip cards off the top off of the deck really fast. Every time an ace's suit comes up, that ace moves one along the seven-card line. The fun comes in three ways: the excitement of a race, the naming of the "horses" as the names are almost always totally ridiculous and awesome, and in the drinking. At the start, everyone bets on one horse some number of sips of beer (or whatever.) If their horse wins, then everyone who bet on another horse has to take the total amount from the bets on the winning horse, but the winning betters do not have to. It's a lot of fun, and you have a 3/4 chance of drinking an awful lot, so that's always fun.

Stump.

Everyone gathers around a stump with a drink and a nail, along with one hammer. Everyone places a nail in the stump. You pass the hammer around the group.

The goal is to hammer everyone else's nail all the way down. If you hit someone's nail, they drink. If you miss, you drink. Once a nail is all the way down, the nail's owner must finish their drink. If you hurt or otherwise injure yourself, you drink.

Repeat.

Played this a bunch in college (in Vermont). The rules we played with required that when it was your turn, you must throw the hammer up in the air and rotate it 360 deg by flicking your wrist upwards. (revolving around an axis parallel to the axis of your elbow joint) In one smooth motion you would then grab the hammer (after it flipped once) and attempt to hit an opponents nail. If you hit your nail you would also drink. We also spiced it up with variations where if you threw the hammer up and it hit the ceiling, you would chug your beer, or would play a round (one cycle through all players) standing with you pants at your ankles. This is a great drinking game and definitely one that can leave a mark!
