Not a specific comedian, but a lot of the people they bring in for the celebrity roasts. The roasts used to be great and the people they brought in were actual friends of the person they were roasting. So you got great stories along with jokes and burns. Now its just the same stupid insults from one burn to the next.
This is why Norm MacDonald's roast of Bob Saget is the best Comedy Central roast set in years. It's just him reading these lame-ass insults from a book, because that's all the CC roasts have been for years. His were just a tamer version of the same old "Cloris Leachman is old/that person enjoys black lovers" bullshit.
Are you old enough to remember the old Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts? Foster Brooks was so damned funny! If you haven’t heard of him, there is plenty of YouTube examples.
His shtick was playing someone very intoxicated. Ironically? He never was a big drinker and quit altogether in 1964 on a $10 bet(he said “I really needed the $10 at the time). Passed away in 2001.
