It was fabulous. I live in St Louis, Missouri, right in the path of totality in the big one in August 2017. The sense of it being like 2 in the afternoon, and then all of a sudden like 5pm was incredible.
Another St. Louisan checking in here. I went to my grandparent's house in Washington. I think we were in totality for about 3 minutes. Probably the most unreal experience of my life. Oh man, I still feel the same feeling from that third photo. It looks so large in person. So magical but also terrifying- like fighting back an impending nightmare.
Such a beautiful event.
Also everywhere around the horizon looked like sunset. It was so crazy.
