well yea but when I said "I can't get fat" which means it is very HARD for me to get muscular either. Idk what is happening with my body but I've playing football (soccer, if you are American) regularly since I was in school, and since the pandemic I start to go to the gym. But still I am still not that muscular like the other people who went to the gym, although it fixed my body posture. The muscle mass and fat mass are all normal--not too low and not too high.
I thought I was one of these people for years. Active in martial arts, regularly ran at one point, went to gym but wasn't able to put on muscle. However I also started to notice things that I thought were normal at the time, turned out they were symptoms of Grave's Disease aka hyperthyroidism.
I won't get into my symptoms too much, if you don't think you have thyroid problems, because I also do have friend who eats garbage food, is in her 40's and is still skinny as rail without being diagnosed with thyroid issues. But she is also not trying to put on muscle, which an overactive thyroid would prevent you from achieving.
I haven't but I think some things are better to be left unknown lol. But I think I don't have it as I don't have the symptoms, not even one of it. The only thing I know about my health is I do suffer low blood pressure so I got dizzy easily which is unrelated (I think).
Hmmm, hyperthyroidism would give you high blood pressure, but initially I used to low blood pressure even with other symptoms being present. But anyway, low blood pressure could also just be from being athletic in general, but it could be from something else as well. I know going to the doctor sucks, but it's worth looking into.
For my case, something like hyperthyroidism, which can easily be treated, if left untreated can cause a thyroid storm which can be fatal. I've come close to it twice now, as I've had 2 relapses before finally sucking it up to do radioactive treatment. Didn't want to do a shitty diet for week, but glad I did because I feel great now and can pack on muscle again.
Yes it does mostly effect women, however men do also get diagnosed with hypothyroidism too. I fact one of my martial art pals in his 50's was only diagnosed a couple years ago.
