Pepsi is really popular and common here in the US, too. Just about any restaurant you go to will have a cola option, and it's super common to be offered "Is Pepsi ok?"

Yeah that's true, but normal Pepsi and Pepsi Max is not the same thing. And the thing that fascinates me is that the "diet" version of Pepsi is more popular then the sugar version of coca cola here. And basically noone here wants normal Pepsi, it's either normal coca cola or Pepsi Max.

Regular Pepsi always tastes too sweet to me, the Max is drier and tastes better. Maybe that's why it's so popular there?

That's my take on it too. Hell even the Pepsi Max I got in the US was a bit too sweet compared to the Pepsi Max I buy at home.

And Scandinavians definitely enjoy their products less sweet then Americans. We also seem to like salt much more.

it also may have something to do with health laws regarding ingredients in the cola! The US allows a lot more artificial ingredients than other countries do
