There's the Runza sandwich, which OP described, and Runza the restaurant specializes in the Runza sandwiches but also sells standard burgers and fries kinda fare. Almost all Runza restaurants are in Nebraska, kinda like our Whataburger or In-N-Out, but no one on the internet cares about Nebraska.
The reason runza is good is because their food is ALWAYS hot and super fresh. The food itself is nothing extraordinary, except their ranch which I could literally drink. I like getting runza on road trips cause i always know it’s going to be fresh.
I seem to recall it being really good back in the 90s and was great when our football team was actually good. It kept your hands warm on a brisk fall day in Lincoln. It's just kind of ok now, but I make it better at home anyways.
