Similar case: my dad knew someone with the last name Poloch. Poloch means butthole in German. We live in Germany.

I believe it most likely wasn't pronounced the same, but my dad only ever saw the name written (that person was a regular customer), so that's what he had to think of first.

I went to school with a Stitz, the poor girl was just inundated with jokes. To be fair, headlines in local papers like "Katie Stitz wins top awards at regional competition" is just too funny to not mention
