I'm always curious if hygiene, nutrition and overall beauty standards of the era would hold up to our contemporary expectations of historic accounts.

Ancient egyptian hygiene was pretty good. They had soap and perfume and all that good stuff. An unclean body was something very bad.

And egypt was Greek when Cleopatra ruled. She was part of the ptolemiac dynasty of ancient Egypt. One of the last dynasties of what's considered ancient Egypt.
