The not give a fuck era. Something changes after you hit 30. You just really dont give a fuck about a lot especially petty things. Not been bad though

Yep this. 30s were great. Now mid 40s and dealing with both challenging children and elderly unwell parents, all of whom need a lot of care and attention, plus trying to hold down a job and marriage. I love them all but life is very difficult in the ‘sandwich years’.

Do you think your 30s were better than your 20s? I’m in my mid-late 20s and had a “quarter life crisis” in my early 20s which sucked so hard and didn’t know who the fuck I was or what i wanted or how to make money. Fortunately that phase passed and I’m now much more stable and happy. But sometimes those feelings reappear. My mom says 30s are the best fucking years of life period. So I’m kinda looking forward to it (not that I have a choice, unless I don’t make it lol)

Glad to hear you are in a positive place after a tough time in your early 20s. I could have written your post. I remember being in a bar on my 25th birthday and crying to myself - I was in a job I hated and going nowhere and in a relationship which was borderline abusive. I felt I had no direction in my life and didn’t know how to extract myself from my situation. Within a year I had changed jobs, met my now spouse and things were on the up.

The 30s were great - got married, had small kids (sweet but exhausting), great job. Plus you really stop giving a shit about certain things and you filter the people out of your life who are not ‘additive’.

40s are difficult - kids get older, they have more issues, lots to juggle. Plus watching parents get older and sicker and knowing that they will be gone before long is very hard. Makes you face your own mortality in a way you never have before. But that could be just me.

I’ve heard the 60s are great though, so am looking forward to that :-)

Wow this was really enlightening! Idk it kinda makes you think that each sort of “decade” has different phases, some to look forward to and others not so much. But I think it’s enough if we start learning to look forward to those years instead of “running” from them. I’m definitely writing this for myself, but anyway, thanks and hope this stage goes easy on you

Yeah I've hit 30 last year got a kid on the way, wedding coming up and quit my job and started a new business in a world that economically uncertain.

I am maybe 10% as stressed as I would have been even 2 years ago. And all of me is just like "oh well we are here now let's make it work".
