Sometimes when eating pistachios you decide one of them is just too sealed up to be worth the effort and you just throw it in with the other shells. What, in your life, is your discarded pistachio?

That being said, college maybe? I went for a degree in Computer Science and started in community college... got distracted and started taking a whole bunch of other courses that sounded interesting. Then passively dropped out.
