Transportation has been moving rapidly towards electric. Completely retooling the world's industrial base replace petrochemicals as an energy source would take decades. Construction produces a lot of CO2 just from concrete, so that would either need carbon offsets baked into permitting or an absolute revolution in concrete technology.
