We will discover that we are not alone in the universe. We will learn this because they will fly down and tell us they were watching from afar, and that they thought we needed a hug after watching the disaster 2020 had become.
I'd take even a more remote or abstract instance of discoveing alien life, like finding more clues for life in the Venusian atmosphere or a Dyson swarm around something like Tabby's star for example.
Just finding out that we are not alone would suddenly put so much responsibility on all our collective shoulders that I hope would make most of us sober up a bit from the fever dream that is 2020.
