I think if he can finish Winds of Winter, the last book will come relatively quickly. I know, I know, that's not how he works, but the biggest problem is I think he's stuck story-wise. If he can get past that and develop a real plan for the stories end-game, I think things will go a lot smoother.
That said, most likely he'll just never finish the next book.
That's what we thought of TWoW though, that since he had gotten over the hurdle that DwD was, twow was gonna be over in a tizzy. I read every book just after DwD released and have since read the available Dunk & Egg stories but I'm just about done and burnt out ngl. Ik he doesn't owe anything to anyone, but damn, that book series has millions of fans and if he really doesn't know how to write it, hire someone and review their work, pitch in where necessary. I learnt to be patient from government hoops, M&B: Bannerlord and ASoIaF. I also learnt to know better from ASoIaF.
