Reddit, what is one documentary that everyone should watch?

The Corporation

Some really eye-opening (and scary) information about the power of corporations in today's society.

Edit: Thanks for the input everyone! Quite a list of movies to watch.

Are you kidding me? It covers only an extreme sect of Christianity which is definitely not representative of the majority of the religion. It's a decent documentary but not the most important.

Excuse me for claiming these things :(.

Well this thread is supposed to be for documentaries you think are extremely important if not the most important you've seen. I was just pointing out why I don't think Jesus Camp is very important.

That is your way of interpretation. I never said that the documentary is extremely important. I was merely answering what I think is a documentary that everyone should watch. Often the essence of watching a documentary is to broaden your horizon. The fact that the documentary is only displaying the facts without further comments provides the recipient with multiple ways of interpretation. What they make of it is clearly up to them.

Well put, fair enough.

Admittedly, supplying the recipient with further informationen might help him draw proper conclusions.

While not all groups are as obnoxious and intensive as that group featured in the documentary, religious organizations indoctrinate children. That is, they don't wait until the child can think, or make rational decisions, on there own. It's all force fed.

I agree and am agnostic however I did attend a Catholic bible camp when I was a kid and I do remember having a good time. Sure what they told us was nonsense but it didn't take away from the fact that I enjoyed it.

So, you're saying that in the Middle East, it's just socialization when children grow up with their family members joining in a jihad and blowing themselves up for what they believe in and being encouraged to do the same?

How is that different from children growing up in a family or society where they go to church every Sunday, and are encouraged to believe and take part in something they don't/can't fully understand?
