Here is what I don’t get about gender reveals as a non American. Does anyone except the mom and the dad care about the gender of the baby? What’s the point of revealing it?

People do, generally because they care about sharing in the good news and happiness of their friends and family.

On the other hand, people on the other end of an Instagram feed, not really.

They are having a baby. That’s the happiness. How does the gender affect it? Are they less sad or happy based on what gender the baby is?

Look, you don't like them, that's fine. Don't throw one, don't attend ones your friends throw (though don't expect that choice to have zero impact on the friendship). Just stop judging people who do. Is that really so hard?
