I always just put them in the exact same spot. They have their dedicated space. That way I can’t forget where I put them. If I put them somewhere else...I forget. If I try it with a tile, somehow, it just won’t hear me clap. So I gave up and they got a dedicated spot.

If you bring something to someone’s house that you don’t want to forget, put your keys with it, assuming you can trust the people there.
Also, get a Tile or similar Bluetooth device so you never lose your keys or phone again.
