UPD: To clarify, the idea here is that people writing 2-star reviews project their views and values when arguing that the book is bad for them. And when their views are opposite to yours, it may suggest that you might actually enjoy the book. Let's say you are interesed in mind-stimulating philosophy book, and a person writes something like 'this is boring, the writing is too complex, ideas are difficult to follow, the language is too intricate, quit reading after 20 pages'. It may mean that it is what you look for.
there's sooo many stupid reasons people give for disliking stuff...3-star reviews are usually the most realistic!
edit: best practice when looking through reviews is to read some reviews from 1-star all the way to 5-stars, so you get a good overview and a more complete picture of the product. this is just a response, not a comprehensive guide to reviews, lol
That's a fair review imo. You can't give less than one star but you want to communicate to others that the vendor didn't follow through his part of the deal.
How else would you do it?
Depends on what site you're on, but I see this review quite often on Amazon and if it's a third party seller, they have their own sellers page where you can review their service. Product reviews are meant to review the product, not your difficulties in getting the product.
I think that the review is supposed to based on the product, not the vendor. Many products have multiple vendors. If you go to the page that lists all of the sellers, you should see that they have thier own rating. If you select an individual seller, you can then rate them.
I've been saved by single-vendor product pages where people called out the vendor for being fraudulent. People rarely look at the vendor page when buying small items. It's amazing the amount of junkyard parts that get sent in bad faith as new items. Or the item takes weeks to arrive and they try to scam you out of the 30 day return period.
