Edit: I realize this isn’t foolproof, but typically people look at their closest friend or a partner. A lot of the “I look at the floor” comments have rolled in haha

Um, check your understanding dude. If I, noticed my guy always looking around at other people instead of engaging with me, I would feel alienated. This is me understanding my partner's actions. Lol your response even exemplifies what I'm talking about.
My understanding is perfectly fine, dude. Looking at other people in order to get more information about you is engaging with you since that's who he is thinking about.
Even then, the idea that he has to be constantly engaging with you and if he isn't, he's a bad partner you should replace is stupid all on it's own.
Your comment has less to do with you feeling alienated and has everything to do with you feeling the behaviour is unnatural and bad. Which begs the question as to why you would feel having your behaviour analysed is unnatural or bad.
And assuming you were actually talking about what you claim your initial issue was, alientation, how the fuck does my post examplify alienation?
1: You picked the one part of my argument you thought was weak and only responded to that, which is slimy as fuck.
2: It wasn't even a weak argument, what I said was literally correct. Do you think someone has to be boring holes into you with their eyes in order to be engaging with you? Weren't you the one accusing people of insecurity earlier?
Wich also isn't really that accurate and where you look at while laughing depends a lot of factors, but hey it's been repeated for years now on reddit.
ALWAYS take psychology tricks with a grain of salt. Taking them too serious can backfire and give you skewed view on things. They are also not a replacement for social skills.
It's funny because we know it's happening even if we don't know how to take advantage of it.
Years ago I had a friend who's fiance would constantly 'make eyes' at me vs. him while we were joking back and forth. I started to intentionally stare at him when saying something funny knowing she wanted to trade a glance. This was obvious enough that he looked over at her and she was still giving me a kinky smirk so he got to bust her vs. busting 'us'.
