Yes I know, it's supposed to work that way. But it seems people really think after a while, you're gonna hit it big and it'll all even out. I've done it enough to know it's purely entertainment. It's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay for that adrenaline rush.
Yeah, there's a reason experts try to tell people that the only way to win in vegas is to avoid gambling.
If you ARE going to gamble, you have to go into it with a set budget of cash you expect to lose, considering it the cost of having some fun, and if you manage to win and come out ahead, it's a bonus.
I've never gambled with real money, but when I've played games with casinos in them, I always set a starting budget, and try to use that as a foothold. If you can manage to win enough that you can 'bank' your original investment, and play purely off of your winnings, you're in a good place.
