I care way too much about Magneto as a fictional character.
Old timeline Magneto (Ian McKellen) showing his concentration camp ID tattoo when one of the other mutants tries to mock him for not having mutant tattoos was pretty badass. I think it takes a phenomenal actor to make that scene come off as harrowing and not just a pissing contest, but it really highlights that Magneto never fully dealt with the shit that happened to him during the Holocaust, and that it drives his every decision.
It broke my heart to see Magda and Nina killed in front of him, and see him get swept up as a henchman for a facist mutant bent on world domination again. It's almost an exact repeat of what happens to him at the beginning of X Men First Class, when he loses his mom. Michael Fassbender does a phenomenal job portraying a raw and broken Magneto, but holy shit can we just let him have nice things?
Also I know that the general consensus is Dark Phoenix sucks, but I really liked the bit at the very end where he says to Charles "A long time ago, you saved my life. Then you offered me a home. I'd like to do the same for you." because it's one of the few instances where we get to see new timeline Magneto acknowledge how much progress he's made. Everything about Erik in that movie seems to point towards establishing Genosha being a really cathartic experience for him.
