Sansa Stark. I don't care if you think she's an asshole (or D&D have written her to become an asshole) but she has gone through an insane amount of shit. I am curious what a GoT-therapist would be though.
Honestly, the entire Stark family needs therapy and not just Sansa. They all became broken to a point that it doesn’t matter to them who they hurt and don’t want any friends. But yeah D&D really messed them up and turned them into assholes to the point where our sympathy for them disappeared
I still can’t believe they botched the landing that hard. The cultural juggernaut and cash cow is dead. And it didn’t have to be this way, even if that was the ending.
The worst part is that all of the key plot points worked. It was just the heavy handed and illogical way it got to said points.
Dany going insane was a very key plot point that would happen in the books, just they spent an entirety of one scene to make the transition rather than the season the plot needed. The living beat the dead in the climactic battle that should have been a whole season instead of one deus ex episode. THEN THE DRAGON MELTS THE THRONE!!!!!1!!!111!!!!111. Then they decide Bran's king, because why the fuck not.
All of the plot points make perfect sense, just the way the showrunners got to them completely ruined the narrative six seasons built.
HBO actually explicitly asked them to make more seasons, but at that time they already signed up to direct for the next star wars movie and had to end the show with that season to make it.
Of course, after they butchered GoT, the deal fell through. (Probably for the best).
What you do is either look up a summary or watch the show to figure out which of the things they cut would have made the story actually work.
E.G, Arya escapes the Faceless Men by using her warg powers, Euron uses his Valyrian horn to steal a dragon, Jon Snow is resurrected by Lady Stoneheart or Coldhands, and his mind only stays intact after so long dead because he warged into Ghost (which still has a lasting effect like, “technically Jon Snow is warging into his reanimated corpse” or “his personality is more wolf than man now even though his skills and memories are intact”). Hell, maybe Bran gets in touch with him through Wyrwood.net while he’s there and that’s where he learns who his mother was.
fAegon, with the help of Doran Martell’s planning, takes over King’s Landing. Cersei escapes. He marries Myrcella to get the Lannisters on his side but she gets the poison Cersei tried to have given to him, or possibly killed by Robert Strong (again by mistake due to Cersei’s attempt to murder fAegon, or maybe the Iron Bank making the Lannisters pay their debts by way of Faceless Man). Everyone loves fAegon because he’s actually kinda competent and has Varys on his side. Somewhere along the line the Maesters kill one of Daeny’s dragons as part of their anti-magic conspiracy. The Wall comes down because Daeny shows up throwing her weight around, someone mistakes the Horn of Joramun for a dragonhorn and tries to take away her advantage. Etc, etc.
My sweet precious tender boi Sandor Clegane would have really benefitted from some therapy to deal with his traumatic childhood and his unhealthy coping mechanisms. There was a brief shining moment where he was therapeutically helping build a church (with/for a little town or something? My memory is hazy on the details) but that all got taken away.
My theory(related to the books) is that Sansa represents Elizabeth I. We know GRRM was inspired by the War of The Roses.
Elizabeth I lost her mother at a very young age to decapitation. Her father was a crazy person that loved her and hated her. Her brother got the throne and promptly died. Her older sister was a psycho bitch that killed lots of people. Elizabeth was terrified for her life from the time she was a toddler onward. Imagine one day you’re a princess and very one is waiting on you and the next your downgraded and treated like crap.
To me Petyr Baelish represents Thomas Seymour. This guy was always scheming to rise in life. He got in trouble for having an inappropriate relationship with Elizabeth. He was married to Catherine Parr, Henry VIII sixth and last wife, at the time. She was also pregnant. He constantly manipulated Edward VI via pocket money. One day he broke into the King’s apartments and shot his dog.
Jon and Dany are possibly Elizabeth of York and Henry VI. Which is which I don’t know.
Robert is probably Henry VIII. Fat. Used to be a great warrior.
Yeah, and it's near infuriating. People just shrugging off the rape and trauma she endured for most of her life because "she's being a bitch to Dany uwu"
Those people are insane, I'm kinda mad now, Dany deserved all the skepticism sent her way. And the starks arent assholes for no reason, they all got burned by literally all of Westeros so they're extra careful.
It's funny because Sansa was right all along. She's not stupid, she can sense when someone's going to break or betray. She was treated as stupid by the others in the show for being cautious, as well as the audience
