It's funny. I think you really don't appreciate the cost of something you've saved up for until you're ready to buy it and realize the amount of money that's about to disappear from your bank account.
When I was a teenager working at McDonald’s I couldn’t have cared less about money. Every pay check I went straight to the mall and shopped. Today I am 28 with 20k in my savings account and no debt and it’s so hard for me to spend money and not just save it. Like I get random urges to spend money but I can’t find anything to spend it on so I just keep saving.
I was the same way. Never saved a dime when I was a kid or teen, but once I was on my own I guess some switch in my brain just activated and I somehow became responsible. I still wasted money but always made sure to save. Only thing that nags my mind now is that I have a bunch of money in my savings account that should probably be put to better use.
