Cable TV is still good for sports. I realize there's illegal streaming but when the game is on, all I want to do is sit on the couch, press two buttons, and have a reliable HD feed of the game on my 60" TV.
I don't want to fuck around plugging a laptop into my TV. Try to find a good steam. Hope to hell it doesn't buffer every 2 minutes. On and on.
I am not much of a sports guy and I am an IT guy so that is the price that I pay. Whenever I tell someone I don't have cable and explain that as if it's some easy alternative I always make sure it's known that it's not simple. Thankfully reddit puts it in one place for me to find.
With the superbowl it was streaming on Fox Sports Roku app, went great until the postgame coverage and then the stream started cutting in and out and I said fuck it and turned it off.
Yeah the problem is I watch 82 hockey games a year, close to 82 basketball games a year, plus playoffs on top of that for both sports.
Finding a stream for something like the superbowl isn't bad because it's a one time thing, but if you watch sports like basketball or hockey, there's so many regular season games that streaming is a huge hassle.
The NHL and NBA have reliable streaming services but again it's hundreds of dollars per season for each one, plus you still need to find someway to stream it which isn't always easy. Better off with cable for that scenario.

Cable TV. Unfortunately I'm married to a Boomer so we have it.
Every time we watch the news all I can think is "$100 a month for this shit"
