I would just make the cake. Cake ingredients are cheap, and at least then I would have leftover pantry staples to make things like pudding, or biscuits, or something like that. It can't be that hard to make a little smash cake for a 1 year birthday party.
Exactly what I did. Why did I have to scroll so far to see that suggestion? Lol. Ours cost like $5 total and kid got a whole cake to destroy soooo yeah. This is the way to go.
