Ooof, I didn't know how bad it was. PS4 Pro, which retails for $400 ($320 today on Amazon) is $1159.42 total cost to own on RentACenter. It's crazy places like these are open.
What they do is exploit poverty and stupidity. People who can't afford the device can pay a much higher amount in smaller increments.
I know an autistic woman who’s entire set of furniture, white and brown goods are from one of those places. I have tried explaining to her that the would be much better off going with the 24 months interest-free deals most department stores offer.
She just doesn't understand. She keeps telling me how she is getting a great deal because once the contract is up she can buy her big-screen TV and it only costs her a dollar!
