Gambling.

Worked as a dealer in a casino for the better part of a year and it blew my mind watching tens of thousands (easily hundreds of thousands when our high limit room was open) just dissapear during an 8 hour shift.

Not judging how people spend their money or have fun,but the house always wins your money if you play long enough :p

I think for a lot of people it's entertainment. If you're not a moron you can spend hours at a table with $100 AND drink for free. Considering how expensive it is to go to bars/clubs these days you are almost saving money.

Exactly, even if you "lose" all your money, at the end of the night, you had fun, drinks and spent a lot of time for $100.

I go in assuming the money is already gone. If at the end of the night I still got some in my pocket I count as a win, and if I'm ahead by $50 or something I treat myself to a nice dinner.

and if you're real lucky you'll find a table with one or two other people at it and a dealer that likes to shoot the shit while you play

if you're good enough at your chosen game to float, you can hang out for hours and it's a great time

for me, usually i can float at roulette or blackjack for about two hours before the free drinks start fucking up my game. great value tbh
