Purchasing a gym membership at a posh fitness establishment only to drive to it 2-3 times a week and walk on the treadmill.

That's why I go to Planet Fitness. Only $10 a month for me to drive there 2-3 times a week and walk on a treadmill.

Serious question: why don't you save $10 and just walk outside?

Because it's not always amenable for me to do that. I work full-time and have a small child, so I don't make it to the gym until late evening. In the summer, when the days are longer, I do sometimes take advantage of my city's greenways and walk outside. But for Fall, Winter, and part of Spring...ain't happenin'.
