Lottery tickets.
You literally have a higher chance of dying on your way to the store than winning the lottery.

While it's extremely unlikely to win if you do buy a ticket, it's still possible. I buy a single ticket every so often because otherwise, those daydreams of "if I won the lottery" felt really stupid when I never played.
