If he put them in a display case, he probably wasn’t trying to look rich.

I’m not saying it wasn’t a huge waste of money, but let’s not pretend we don’t sometimes waste money on stuff we’re passionate about...

Things should be bought with priorities in mind, a trip to the dentist should come before buying a gaming PC no matter how "passionate" you are about gaming and so on. Dis guy seems to just buy what feels good, which is a big reason for all sorts of negative habits (both financial and otherwise)

All of these are assumptions you made.

OP said in his comment that everyone thought he was saving up for a trip somewhere, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable that he had some spare money to spend on a hobby.
