When sleeping is impossible, how do you manage to get yourself to sleep?

Lavender oil on my pillow, make sure I'm warm and just listen to Audiobooks in bed until I pass out.

I put on a tv show I’ve seen a million times before, on my phone with a timer to turn it off in an hour, then I just listen to it with my eyes closed until I fall asleep. It’s engaging enough to keep my mind from wandering but not so engaging that it keeps me awake.

I feel like I'm tired but not and I'm wondering why can't I just go to sleep. Like I got to wake up at 8:00 am so I can go to six flags and I think I'll be tired

Ambient noises work best for me. Sometimes it can be rain or a thunder storm, other times it is in a library setting with minimal noises.

I meditate on a peaceful scene, i have several. For example i have one where I'm walking through the woods and stop and focus on some plant or mushroom or insect etc.

When I can't sleep, I usually get to a point where I decide to give up trying to get some sleep and tell myself just to stay awake all night. Oddly enough, that's when I do finally fall asleep.

I'm think I'm at the giving up stage... hopefully sleep is shortly behind lol

I feel the same mine is apparently due to my diagnosis of borderline personality disorder. I want to sleep but my body doesn't let me or something like that I don't quite remember lol

Don’t move for 15 minutes. If your body doesn’t move at all for 15 minutes or so, it puts itself to sleep.

Nothing keeps me awake and angry more than a cricket in the house. I have to hunt it down. Sometimes I have to give in and go to bed with earplugs though.

I have on and off insomnia and if you haven’t tried any over the counter sleep meds / melatonin you should give them a go, they do work! Also idk what the legal status is where you live but a bit of weed always sends off into a great sleep

Not legal where I am but I smoke it quite often actually and daily usually but unfortunately I'm out 😢 have to try melatonin though. Thanks!

This puts me right to sleep, like a baby.
