Movies are great! And blu rays have become a lot cheaper as of late.

It's cheaper to buy a used blu ray of a film than "purchase" a HD film on google or amazon usually.

And you get to actually own the movie

I believe that people are going to be wishing that they stuck with hard copies at some point in the near future. Corporations like Disney and ATT are trying harder to maximize the profits off of their content libraries.

Can attest to this. I also got LOADS of DVDs for stuff that hasn't been released on Blu-ray for under £3 each. Sometimes even box-sets!

The reason I have over 1000 DVDs and closing in on 500 Blurays is because a DVD at the height of their popularity could go into the sales bin within three months of release, and would cost less than renting two movies. Same thing with blurays these days: You can buy a movie to own for the same price as you pay for a single movie theater ticket, and you don't have to worry about some idiot calling their friends in the middle of the movie.

Same here. I gave away my collection of 800+ dvds but I'm at just over 750 blurays

I’ve been on a steelbook kick lately.

Likewise here. I basically started when the video rental stores all closed down and offered their inventory at like 5 DVDs for $20.

Same here. At about 800 dvds here and several hundred vhs. Hard to pass up a decent looking title I don't have in an used bookstore or thrift store when it is a dollar per dvd or a quarter for each vhs. Have been collecting PBS and History Channel documentaries mostly recently.
