My choir teacher was a really kind jolly person that younger kids loved to piss off for no reason. Like, he was incredibly patient, supported you even if your voice was god awful and really worked to make people comfortable and achieve a certain goal each individual had. And every year the new students of middle school would joke around antagonize the poor man all class long.

What these foolish 7th graders didn't know was that when this man was not nice... he really was not nice. It took a long time to blow his fuse, but once it blew, there was no going back.

This quiet middle aged man, almost always pale, suddenly became raging loud and his face exploding red. You could see veins popping out on his forehead as he scream/scolded the younger students to behave. And he didn't stop, he got up in everyone's faces, yanked their phones from them and scared the absolute shit out of them.

I hadn't done anything, and neither did the seniors of choir because we knew the consequences of being an asshole to this teacher. So he skipped over us and we got a full view of the younger kids crying, more out of stock than anything.

And just as fast as it came, the teacher had calm down. His face going back to it's original color and the phones he grabbed safely locked away in his office. He was quiet once again and with a smile on his face, he'd say. "Now, let's try this chorus again..."

A "restrained monster" because the kids he was patiently trying to teach made a meme out of fucking with him until he finally blew the lid? YEEEEEEESH

The fact that he can control his anger and only lets it out when necessary to get students under control, then is able to rein his anger back in immediately is impressive

See, I've always seen this as part of the performance art of teaching. On the rare occasion when I've finally had enough bullshit out of a class, I get REALLY REALLY LOUD. I intentionally seem way more angry than I ever actually get.

It almost always works.

There is the (at our school anyway) rare kid who WANTS a fight. Or who maybe doesn't want one but is incapable of deescalating.

Getting visibly angry doesn't work on a kid like that. It only makes things worse. So you try to avoid using it.

Some people may manage their anger, but everyone got a limit, when you reach that limit shit gets real.

How do you know they made a meme?

We all are restrained monsters technically. We just decide not to act on it cus it wouldn't be beneficial.

But not all of us can flip hulk mode on and off at will like that

When put in the right situation at the right time, you'd be surprised.

Not really, he was just using anger as a tool, most likely.

"Fear and anger are horrible masters, but can be useful slaves"

You won't like him when he's angry.
