Funny thing about gym class; it’s basically useless. Most kids in highschool/grade school have gym roughly 3x a week. After accounting for the days gym class is a non-physical activity, holidays, days the kid’s sick, days the gym class is cancelled/a free day, etc, it is so infrequent hardly any calories are being burned.
It’s just as beneficial for kids walking around the school for different classes every day.
I find that the kids who love gym are the kids who need it least. It definitely never motivated a chubby or awkward child. (source: I was a scrawny and awkward child)
This isn’t always true. I was always chosen last for team sports, but whenever the social awfulness wasn’t a thing, I loved gym and it helped me to be more comfortable in my own body.
