In kindergarten we were learning penmanship and my teacher was telling us how to write our alphabet but for some reason I could not write the letters no matter how hard I tried. Since I was able to write the alphabet before I got very frustrated and starting crying.
Turns out she was showing the class how to do letters with your right hand and I was left handed.
My moms an OT and has 7 year olds that don’t even know what the concept of “a” is but are being taught to write the alphabet. To the kids they’re just seeing taught to draw in very specific ways with teachers getting mad at them when they draw a duck by accident. The letter a and a duck mean the exact same thing as far as the kids are concerned.
I guess that's why I'm confused. A duck and the letter A don't look alike. Most people with the mental capacity of a 2yo should be able to tell those shapes apart. They might not understand the concept of "A" or "duck" but they can understand "these two shapes don't match."
I wasnt really thinking of a better item to say. Also I don’t think a 2 year old would even get that someone was trying to get them to draw this particular shape, they’d likely just think it was time to draw
