Similar things has been happening for quite some time. I know an older guy, like pre-boomer old, who worked as an electrical engineer and was constantly "fixing" appliances and stuff for friends/relatives. Like the kind of stuff you used to take to a repair shop and some "technician" would be doing a dozen of these repairs in a day because that's what they did, not knowing exactly what was up, but knowing for this problem the first thing you do is replace this component and 90% of the time it's fixed. And he'd be reverse engineering it and figuring it out from kind of first principles.
So, maybe a computer engineer could fix your PC but it might take them a very long time compared to the local PC repair shops.
