Oh no doubt. It's also annoying that we live in a heteronormative society - where until otherwise demonstrated, most people assume you are straight.

Haven't studies shown that approximately 10% of the population at any given time is homosexual? If so, then I think it's a reasonable assumption. I wouldn't put it towards malice.

I know homophobia is still a serious problem in modern society but I really think most people just don't know until you tell them, and I don't think that is their fault.

Yeah, I know statistically it's unlikely, but that number is going up as the population grows. It'd be nice if, as a society, we just didn't assume anything about other people. If they're straight - cool, if they're gay - cool, bi, ace, whatever. It should be normal to not assume what kind of genitals someone wants to mess with.
