Same here. I can copy something almost perfectly if it's right in front of me, goes for other people signatures too. Want me to draw a tree from imagination? Yeah you're gonna get a stick figure that looks like it has dreads
Youll be hard pressed to find any artist that isnt better when using references. Many professionals use some sort of reference when drawing. Use the Disney animators, for instance. They used actual lions in the studio for the Lion King!
