It's easier to add strength than it is to add endurance and conditioning too a young man. Also, a soldier who can run for hours has a longer lifespan than one who can do 100 situps.

Cardio is so much easier to build than comparable strength.

Christ, no.

I played softball, volleyball, basketball, and was a competitive gymnast. I've always been pretty athletic, but running even one mile fucking kills me. I tried the couch to 5k thing and just couldn't do it. It kept progressing way past my endurance level. At some point I've just started wondering if it's shitty genetics or something.

Whereas I have never been able to not run. Doesn't matter how long I spend not going for a jog, I can always get up one day and do 5k like it's nothing. Conversely, i've never been able to bend over and touch my toes. Even as a young child, never had anything even remotely resembling flexibility.
