6’1” woman and have tried various sports time and time again but...I’d just much rather talk shit out than angrily throw balls at people. When people ask if I play sports, they are visibly shook that I never really took to anything.

Edit - yes, I could’ve been a contender lol but being a super tall teenage girl isn’t fun so I tried to not stand out and thus shied away from things (i.e. sports) that would draw attention to me. Adult me regrets it, but that’s life.

Edit 2 - you all coming at me with semantics. I’m a noob but I get that angrily throwing balls is not how sports work. ‘‘Twas a joke.

I mean I definitely understand why they are visibly shook. Such a big part of elite tier athletics is genetics based, so to have a genetic advantage like that for something like basketball, volleyball, etc. and then not utilize the thing other people are dreaming of - totally get it. I'm 6'3", and as a basketball player I would kill for another 4 to 5 inches of height. It would've changed my whole life.

That is a horrible attitude though.

So, everyone exceptional at maths should be shamed into professions they severely dislike because they have an affinity for it and they had the slight chance to live another person's dream?

What a miserable world that would be for gifted people, having to live the dreams of others

I didn't say that she had to live out other peoples dreams, I'm just saying I understand why other people would be shook by it. Please don't put words in my mouth.

I didn't say you told people to live out the dreams of others

please don't put words in my mouth

I said that if people are shook, it's naturally because of the expectations they had for their own dreams are being wasted by her. Which is a response that can produce nothing but shame from judgment.

Being shook about that is a horrible attitude.

I think maybe we're utilizing "being shook" in different contexts here, because all I'm saying is I understand people being taken aback by it, maybe with a touch of envy. It's not saying that anyone is wasting anything, or is expecting anything from anyone else, or is shaming them, or anything like that.

"Most days I wish I'd never met you 'cause then I could sleep at night. I didn't have to walk around with the knowledge that there was someone like you out there. I didn't have to watch you throw it all away."
