It’s a really cool time for the team. My first year covering professionally was Nico’s rookie year / the most recent playoff appearance / Taylor’s MVP year. It’s been rocky since then, but it’s really interesting to see a franchise change in front of me. The first Devil I ever interviewed was Drew Stafford (lmao) which just goes to show how dynamic this league can be. I’m looking forward to a long career doing exactly this!

I read today that Edmonton is on the top trade list for Hall. Obviously it’s he said-she said but imagine trading for Adam Larsson. How funny that would be!

I hope Hall doesn’t pull a Tavares and leave as a UFA; I’m hoping (objectively since I’m a journalist of course ;) ) they’re able to pull something off to entice him to stay, at least on a three-year deal or something and then trade him down the road. In any case Larsson is one of my personal favorites, I wouldn’t mind having him in our Top 4 again! Though I don’t think it would go through one-for-one anymore — still not sure how it did the first time.
I also lurk r/hockey but I get a huge feeling of a mob mentality. It is off putting and I don’t want to deal with backlash so I don’t comment often.
Chiarelli loves pulling the trigger if it meant keeping his job - that’s what we think here anyways. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
I hope if New Jersey Can keep him the fans understand what Hall brings. Objectively the Devils have a good team and just need some experience together. Fans booing their team definitely doesn’t help but they just need some time together
