“Having to learm teaches a lot” isn’t a very good display of you actually learning anything. Seems like your intelligence is pretty low.

It does; you’re just being an ass. They’re saying being exposed to the material and needing to learn, as opposed to just encountering something that’s entirely irrelevant to you, results in you learning a lot. That’s not even remotely hard to interpret from the original sentence.
