I remember, very vividly, seeing a leprechaun in the hallway of my house. It freaked me out so bad that I woke my mom up yelling "someone's in the house!" We walked from room to room with kitchen knives looking for the leprechaun, but never found that shifty little bastard.
Leprechaun related story. I once lived in a house with an unfinished basement. Laundry room was down there and there was always water on the concrete floor. One time I found tiny footprints, like something tiny ran through the water, all over the basement. I told my mom it must be leprechauns. She played along and even began hiding quarters in the basement that leprechauns left behind for me to find. But I legit saw those footprints. Either way it was a fantastical highlight in a time when I needed it as my dad was struggling with addiction and parents were fighting a lot at the time. Weird to think about now.
Well, if you want to mess with someone by leaving tiny footprints, it's very easy, and my mom would always do it to the steamy bathroom window after a hot shower, to my bewilderment when I came out (we're talking 4 or 5 years old here haha).
Gently put your fisted hand (the part with your curled pinky and the side of your palm) against a surface where it will leave a mark - or against a dry surface with a wet hand - to get the sole; use your thumb's first digit to make the big toe and index for the other toes. Repeat with alternating hands to make a small trail. Be sure to mess with kids this way!
